Go beyond your normal monitor. Install and run Bigscreen Remote Desktop on your PC to access your desktop from any Quest headset.

How to Stream PC Desktop to Quest or Quest 2

1. Install Bigscreen Remote Desktop to your PC

To get it, click the button below.

2. Run BigscreenRemoteDesktopSetup.exe

This file was just downloaded in Step #1. It will add an icon called BigscreenRemoteDesktop to your Windows Start Menu and on your Desktop.

3. Allow network access

The first time you run the Bigscreen Remote Desktop app, Windows will ask if the app should be allowed to communicate on your network. Choose to Allow Access.

4. Login to Bigscreen Remote Desktop

Use the same account that you use in Bigscreen on your Quest.

5. Run Bigscreen on your Quest

In VR, your desktop screen will automatically show up on the big screen at the front of the room.

6. To share your screen with other people:

Open the Bigscreen menu in VR, go to the My Room tab, choose Remote Desktop, and click on the red button that says Sharing desktop: Off. Ensure the button text changes to On for stream sharing to be enabled.

Troubleshooting Remote Desktop

If you are having trouble getting it to connect, please check the following:

Does your system meet the minimum system requirements?

A graphics chip capable of hardware encoding is required to stream your desktop with low latency. This means a GPU from Nvidia that supports NVENC, a GPU from AMD capable of using the AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.8.1 (18.30.0.01) or newer drivers, or Intel graphics that support Quick Sync.

Do you have both Intel + AMD and/or Nvidia graphics

If you have more than one GPU in your system, please set the Remote Desktop Client to use the most powerful option

Are both devices are on the same network?

Ensure that both your PC and Quest are on the same local area network, and that the Quest is on a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Two apps, one account.

Double check that you are logged into the same account on both Bigscreen Remote Desktop and Bigscreen on the Quest.

Is your network setup as a private network?

Make sure your home network is set to private or your Quest will not be able to find your computer.

Firewall permissions

Did Windows ask you to allow Bigscreen Remote Desktop through your firewall during setup Step #3? If not, check your Windows Defender Firewall settings and make sure that the Notify Me option is checked. Then, uninstall and reinstall the Bigscreen Remote Desktop app.
